Free public transport advocates protest in Katowice

Radio Katowice: Organizers of the happening that took place on the square in Katowice demanded free public communication The initiative was organized on the occasion of the International Day of Free Public Transport.

Patryk Kosela, spokesman of Free Trade Union "August 80", which was one of the organisers of the action, said that free public transit is not a burden on the budgets of municipalities. He added that there will no need of repairs the roads as well as construction of new parking lots, if the majority of drivers will change to buses and trams.

According to Witold Klepacz (MP from Your Movement party), who joined the campaign for free public transport, it can be introduced gradually.

Participants of the demo submitted a petition to the president of Katowice Piotr Uszok and board members of KZK GOP (which is the transport organizer in 27 cities and municipalities in the Silesia region).
